MCNPX Features Summary

The MCNPX Features Summary is a 1-page listing of MCNPX features beyond MCNP4C and MCNPX2.3.0: FeaturesList.doc and FeaturesList.pdf .

MCNPX Cash Awards

We are so confident in the quality of MCNPX that John Hendricks offers cash awards to the first person who finds any bug in the code. He will pay $20 to the first person finding anything that does not meet or exceed the capabilities of MCNPX 2.3.0 and MCNP4C3. European users will be awarded 20 euros. He also will pay a brand new $2 bill for any error in MCNPX that has been inherited from its constituent codes. The list of award winners and the award policy is in Awards.doc and Awards.pdf .

MCNPX 2.6.0 (April 2008)

MCNPX 2.6.0 is the latest general-distribution MCNPX version available from RSICC and OECD/NEA. RSICC is the Radiation Safety Information Computational Center ( http://rsicc.ornl.gov ) in Oak Ridge, Tennessee (pdc@ornl.gov). OECD/NEA is the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development / Nuclear Energy Agency ( http://www.nea.fr ) in Paris, France (sartori@nea.fr). All major MCNPX features and their user interface added since MCNPX 2.5.0 (April 2005) up to MCNPX 2.6.0 (April 2008) are summarized in "MCNPX 2.6.0 Extensions," LA-UR-08-2216.pdf, LA-UR-08-2216.doc. The document is 73 pages (1 MB) and is a supplement to the MCNP/X manual.

MCNPX 2.5.0 (April 2005)

All major MCNPX features and their user interface added since MCNPX 2.3.0 (April 27, 2002), MCNPX4C2 (LA-UR-01-0858, January 30,2001), and MCNP4C3 (LA-UR-01-2244, March 22, 2001) up to MCNPX 2.5.0 are summarized in "MCNPX Extensions, Version 2.5.0," LA-UR-05-2675.doc and LA-UR-05-2675.pdf. The document is 80 pages (1 MB) and is a supplement to the MCNP/X manual.

MCNPX Version 2.3.0 (April 2002)

The MCNPX 2.3.0 User's Guide (LA-UR-02-2607, April 2002) (1.5 MB) describes MCNPX 2.3.0 (April 27, 2002) and MCNPX physics in general. MCNPX 2.3.0 is written in FORTRAN 77 and is based upon MCNPX 2.1.5 (March 16, 2000) and MCNP4B (January 21, 1997).

White paper on Component Architectures and MCNPX

A white paper discussing our thoughts and plans on future directions for the software engineering aspects of MCNPX and similar physics codes is available. This discussion covers the potential future for component architectures and modular decomposition of these codes. Any comments and discussion on this topic are welcome. Feel free to send any feedback to the development team, the author, or the the whole community as you feel is appropriate.
